Francisco "Frank" Varela
Francisco Varela is our budding, young artist and found his love of art quite unexpectedly. He wanted to be a mechanical engineer so decided it would be a good idea to get better at drawing in order to make his own blueprints. Soon he found an immense enjoyment in drawing and making art, so much so that he has chosen to pursue it as a career.
His interest in and curiosity about the world around him make him want to learn as much as he can. Whether it’s a bird, a landscape, a superhero, or an abstract piece, they all provide new exciting things to learn about! His curiosity leads him as he explores knowledge about the subject matter and styles of artistic expression. As he has found inspiration from his mentor, Chip Travers, he also has found it in attending many art related conventions and at school where admirers have snapped up his creations.

Francisco has grown up in the digital age so its no surprise that he specializes in digital artwork although he also draws on traditional paper using a variety of mediums from alcohol markers to acrylic paint pens. For his digital work he uses a tablet such as an iPad along with a stylus to create his works. One can see a range of work from the realistic to abstract. No AI for him. His works are all original. His favorite subject is birds where he experiences a sense of wonder, joyfulness and curiosity that he hopes the viewer of his work also experiences.
